She's Watching Me…

We’ve reached that point in the cycle: Jenny is studying me, which means my behavior is quantifiably different. I’m officially having a manic period rather than manic episode.

What does this mean for us this time? The last two times I had a distinct manic period, I ended up in the hospital. During each of those periods, however, I was not being treated for my paranoia or anxiety. We are hoping that my new routines will make all the difference.

On a related note, we woke up at 3:45 this morning to go to McDonalds for a grand opening. Yes, this is in part because I’m manic. But you can also blame McDonalds for having delicious food, and giving away free Big Macs for a year to their first 100 customers.

Jenny has officially reminded me that I’m not to touch the money, or make any significant choices about money. It’s for the best, considering I spent $5000 in one weekend. Three times. So, for now, Jenny is my beautiful walking wallet. Don’t tell her I said that though, or she won’t cook me lunch!

  1. Note: All of these crazy expenditures pre-dated our relationship by quite a bit. I won’t let him touch the money, which is weird but it’s how it has got to be.

    • I don’t think it is weird.

When my mother has manic episodes, she is known to spend 100k in a single weekend. Once, she spent 10k at a 7-11, and on the same day, spend 30k in the hospital gift shop, then went and purchased all new furniture, and then she went and spend 3k on junk food at a grocery store.

Then, there was the time she decided to renovate one of her houses, and what should have been 10k in renovations, turned into 100k spent, and a completely gutted house with nothing to show for it.

Her 45th birthday to herself was filling for bankruptcy.

Those are just a couple examples to illustrate that I don’t think it’s weird that it has to be done and that I understand the reasoning behind it, for whatever it’s worth.

      • Thank you for sharing. Jenny and I are both in perfect harmony with her handling the money. We literally cannot afford for me to be crazy with money.

  2. I have this habit as well during Manic periods. It is super hard to fight. H keeps a good eye on me, and yeah, right now, He has all the $$.

    • Love. It’s always good to know I’m not alone in this. Hope you guys are doing well!

I have been on the opposite end of the spectrum this week, deep icky depression, but I have felt a little better today. I hope you find level ground soon, and maybe it won’t involve a hospital stay this time. I don’t trust myself with money during mania. Besides those times I am a very frugal person, so when I start spending money everyone knows something is up.
